The name Ripiglino is the Italian word for Cat’s Cradle, which is a game played by manipulating string on and around one’s fingers to form different designs. The term “concerto” was initially used during the early baroque period to denote works involving voices and instruments in which each part had an independent line. The combination of these two concepts captures the soundscape of the ensemble.
People noticed the importance of our combination, but almost nobody have done it seriously into the really performance practice. Consort music is not closed but OPEN!!

チェロ奏者とリュート奏者：異なる視点で挑む新しいヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバの世界

「これまで、誰もが一度は聞いてみたかった！と思わせる新しいガンバ・デュオの世界をお届けします。若い二人がお互いの知識とこれまでの経験を戦わせながら更なる高みを目指して繰り広げる真夏の真剣勝負です。どうぞご期待ください！」（坂本龍右　2015年5月11日）

　かつてリュート奏者は同時にガンバ奏者であり、またある時期からガンバ奏者はチェロ奏者でもあった。・・そんなごくシンプルな歴史的事実の再確認から、この企画は持ち上がりました。リュート曲をガンバで、またチェロ曲をガンバにアレンジして演奏するほか、ちょっと他ではやらない試みも。
　これは我々自身への挑戦であり、さらには現代的な「プロフェッショナルなガンバ奏者」観への挑戦でもあります。ガンバ・デュオというと、ややもすればレパートリーが固定してしまいがちですが、あらゆる既成概念から自由になり、「こういうガンバ・デュオが聞きたかった！」という声にお応えするべく、我々の知識と経験を生かして精一杯頑張りたいと思います！
　また弓奏楽器のルーツをたどるという壮大なテーマのもと、ガンバに対しているわが父・坂本利文と、現代音楽を中心に多彩な活動を行っている鬼才・多井智紀氏が、それぞれ大阪公演と東京公演に特別ゲストで参加。これらの異色ゲストを交えてのトリオコーナーもお楽しみに。

大阪公演は、お足元の悪い中おいでいただき感謝の限りです。ゲストを交えての中世音楽メドレーに驚いた方も多かったのではないでしょうか。ヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバのルーツをたどる、というテーマのもと、武澤氏にも初めてフィーデルに挑戦してもらいました。
東京公演では、用意した座席の足りなくなるほどの盛況ぶりでした。こちらは、ゲストを交えて現代音楽。ミニマルミュージックをガンバ二台と三味線で、お送りしました。こちらもまた大阪公演とは違った意味で驚いた方も多かったことでしょう。
これからもいい意味で皆様の期待を裏切りながら応えていきたいと思っております。またの機会を楽しみにお待ちください！
